And I don't mean that in the way of an obnoxious fortune-teller or a weird simile—I mean it literally. The proof is in the pudding. Which means you've got to try my process to see the results yourself

GET TO KNOW YOU

It all starts with a fun, friendly chat about you and your business. I love talking to my clients. We'll (you and I) dig into the heart of what makes your business tick and figure out exactly what you're looking for in the content we're creating. I want to get a feel for your business or brand so that your copy is consistent with who you are and where you're headed. We start our process by getting to know each other. We’ll talk about your business, your goals, and what kind of copy you need. We’ll also get clear on the tone and voice for your brand. This foundation will set us up for success later on. I love when we both are working in partnership to create something great – using the power of words to make a real difference to your business.
  • Your business: What’s your story? Why is your business here?
  • Your brand: What words and phrases best describe your brand? The tone of voice etc.
  • Who do you serve?: What problems do they have that you help them solve? How do they feel after they've patronized you? What's their story?
  • Competitors: Why should someone choose your product or service over a competitor’s?
  • Goals: What are you hoping to accomplish with the new web copy? What results do you want to see? How are you going to measure success?

Preparation & Penetration

Next comes the fun part: research and development!

This is when I do the heavy lifting: gathering info on the subject matter, researching competitors, brainstorming, SEO Keyword research, outlining, drafting... This part is all about taking in as much as possible so that I can give you the best product possible.

I research your brand and your audience. I want to know everything about them (and you) to say the things that will make them feel understood, so they can hear what you have to say.

I’ll gather all the information I need from you, your website, and your competitors to get a good idea of how we can stand out. I’ll do some keyword research and look into what people in your industry are saying so I can find the gaps in which we can succeed.

I immerse myself in your business and industry, getting to know the product, the market, the competition, the project status, and all other relevant factors. This is done through analyzing existing marketing materials (if any) and reviewing customer feedback. Through this process, I will come to define a USP (Unique Selling Position) that will help guide my work to deliver nothing but results.

Next, I develop my draft outline and send it to you or your editor for review. This is a high-level overview of what we'll be covering in each piece of copy: SEO Keywords, topic, word count, general structure, or takeaway. It also gives me an opportunity to ask any remaining questions and clarify any details before I start writing.

 

There are five big questions in this stage:

  1. Target audience: who are they, and what do they want?
  2. Client goals: Is it just informational, or does it carry some sort of call-to-action?
  3. What's the problem we're solving? How will this writing make the target audience's lives better?
  4. What's our angle on this topic? In other words, how can we stand out from the crowd?
  5. What are the target LSI keywords for SEO?

Drawing The Art

This is where the magic happens...This is when all of those hours of research come together in one piece of beautiful copy.

This is the fun part — where a jumbled collection of ideas turns into a PIXAR movie … where I roll up my sleeves and put my fingers to my keyboard. But don't worry—you'll have plenty of opportunity for input as I craft the perfect words for your project.

I write clear and concise copy and speak directly to your audience with your brand's voice. Any copy I write will be optimized for SEO and readability. You can count on me to make sure all bases are covered so that you don’t have to worry about anything.

I’ll write my first draft, then send it to you for review. You’ll make your edits and feedback till the copy is just right. Then we’ll get to the really fun part: fine-tuning.

We'll go through the changes you want me to make until the final product is something you're excited to share with the world (or at least your potential clients).

And finally, we add the finishing touches — formatting, visual and graphics, and any other bells or whistles you want on your document. Then after one last thorough proofreading and checking for typos, we’re good to go!

Reaching Results

Once I've finalized my copy, we'll review it together before publishing. Then we'll set up a time to check back in on how well it's performing, so we can tweak our approach if necessary (which rarely happens). Your new copy will be ready to go. The final step is seeing the results roll in as we reach your goals together
